Recently, I wrote a blog post about how Amazon, Facebook and Google are all making big pushes for retail selling online.  Amazon, the only one of these three with big experience in retail sales has never made money.  The big A is willing to lose money as long as it means they are driving the competition out of business and taking over more territory.  It’s not about making profits.  Razor thin margins are just fine.

Now, guess what?  Things might get even worse for online and offline retailers.  Jet.com has launched with over $250,000,000 in backing before they even opened their store.  Now they’re gunning for Amazon.

So, how do they intend to take down Amazon?  It could be by offering the lowest prices guaranteed.  Amazon’s prices are already low.  Jet.com’s will be lower.  Jet.com doesn’t care about making any profit on the items it will sell.  Their profits will come from memberships.  Like the kind you pay at Sam’s Club or Costco.

So, once again, if you work in an industry that sells something that can be shipped through the mail or sent over the internet you’re in big trouble.  You were already in trouble from Amazon.  Now Google, Facebook, Jet.com and more are after you too.  The three biggest names on the internet and one impressive upstart are all joining “the march to the bottom.”  It’s not a question of if they will someday own your business but when.

So, what can you do about it?  Well, you need to start thinking about how you can extricate yourself from the march to the bottom.  You can start your own thing.  Something that’s not only survived the last 7 years of the Amazon dystopia but grown like crazy.  It’s grown by leaps and bounds.
