Why The Unemployment Numbers Lie?

You may have heard that unemployment figures in the US are down.  More jobs are being created.  However, a recent CNN.com article shows that the news isn’t nearly as rosy as we’d hope.  In fact, it’s downright depressing. The article says that 41% of the new jobs were low-wage retail, wait staff and home health positions.  Since the recession, lower wage jobs have increased by 2.3 million while medium and high wage jobs have contracted by 1.2 million. There are lots more bad jobs and there are lots fewer good jobs.  The main point here is that it’s harder and harder to get a good job and easier and easier to get a bad one.  That’s the economic reality of the normal job force.
